Change of Major Drop-In Advising

Spring 2026

University Advising and Exploratory Studies provides drop-in advising for students who are exploring or changing undergraduate majors at NC State, outside of their current college or program. Cross-curricular advisors help students evaluate potential majors, navigate the on-campus change of major process (CODA), and plan appropriate coursework as students transition between majors.

  • If you want to change majors within your current college or program, contact your current assigned advisor or the Coordinator of Advising listed for your college or new major of interest.
  • If you are in LSFY (Life Sciences First Year program): if you want one of the following majors, see your LSFY advisor:  Biochemistry, Biological Sciences (all different concentrations for BS and the BA), Genetics, Microbiology, Nutrition Science, Plant Biology, and Zoology intended majors.

Before your visit, complete the Thinking About Changing Your Major downloadable Workbook. This collection of worksheets will help you explore NC State majors, learn about the CODA process, and prepare for registration. Bring the completed worksheets to your Drop-In visit for a most productive advising session. You can also review the workbook as a Google Doc for reference.

Please check-in at least 15 minutes prior to the end of drop-in hours.

To minimize wait times, advising sessions may be limited to 20 minutes per student.

During registration advising, wait times may be longer (30 minutes or more)

Students MUST be checked in to meet with an advisor. See below for directions.
