Maddie Stanfield
Academic Advisor and Lecturer
University Advising and Exploratory Studies
Holmes Hall, Second Floor
[email protected]Bio
Maddie’s entire working life has been spent finding ways to support prospective, incoming, and current college students, particularly through points of transition. As a transfer student, she served in an Orientation Leader role at both community college and UNC Chapel Hill. There, she found a passion for creating a welcoming environment that lifts stress from students’ shoulders. After graduation, she continued facilitating orientation at UNC and decided that this career path was definitely the right fit. She pursued a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from NC State and advised amazing Wolfpack students at Poole College of Management and Life Sciences First Year Program. Then, she worked with Elon 1010, a first-year advising and student leadership focused program at Elon University. Throughout every role, there was a pattern that brought the most joy: being a consistent, informative, and encouraging presence in the lives of first-year students. That is what brought her to University Advising and Exploratory Studies!
Outside of advising, Maddie loves listening to and attending events for her favorite artists like BOYNEXTDOOR, having a good cup of coffee, rewatching shows a million times, scrapbook-style journaling, and playing Good Pizza Great Pizza.
Maddie’s Advice for New Students: Free yourself from the idea of “being behind”! You should not be expected to have everything figured out right now, and we are here to guide you towards and through the big decisions.
