Meet our Advisors!
Gwendolynne has lived all over the US, but considers Watkins Glen, New York her hometown. She has lived in the Cary/Raleigh area for 35 years and always loves coming home. She attended 3 colleges before she settled at SUNY Brockport for her undergraduate degree and changed her intended major several times before settling on Political Science. Throughout her time at SUNY Brockport, she worked as a Resident Assistant and Student Manager in Residential Life.
When her children were young and and as a great distraction from a breast cancer diagnosis, Gwendolynne earned a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration at NC State. While also homeschooling her three youngest kids, Gwendolynne began working as a seasonal Academic Advisor at Wake Tech Community College. Eventually, this lead to full time positions as a Student Success Coach and Academic Advisor. During the pandemic, she transitioned to NC State virtually as a Senior Academic Advisor and Lecturer of USC 101/102 and didn`t meet her wonderful co-workers face-to-face for over a year!
Aside from everything NC State, Gwendolynne loves traveling to new places, meeting friends for coffee, regularly doing yoga and walking/hiking, is a little obsessed with healthy eating and living and loves spending time with her family and kitties.

Meet Jessica!
Jessica grew up in the small town of Knightdale, North Carolina before attending Appalachian State University to pursue a BS in Psychology with a concentration in Human Services. Despite her original plans to become a psychiatrist, Jessica`s extracurricular activities as an Orientation Leader, Resident Assistant and NRHH president eventually inspired her to look into a different career path. After a year away from school, she returned to Appalachian State to earn a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling where she completed her internship as a therapist in App State`s Counseling Center. Jessica`s love of identity development, career counseling, and emerging adulthood lead her to pursue a career in academic advising with a focus on holistic wellness. Since beginning at NC State University in 2020, Jessica has co-authored research on college student mental wellbeing and taught a Resilience Workshop Series to a cohort of Exploratory Studies students in addition to her responsibilities as an Exploratory Studies Academic Advisor and Lecturer.
In her free time, she loves to travel, attend music festivals, and tend to her vegetable garden.
